New Season, Same Foundational Move.
Because I believe in starting my new year in Spring (perfect seed planting time, if you have the right seeds) it is time to knock the rust off my bones and finally start working out again.
Also because I’ve decided to live my life from the perspective of seasons, the weather absolutely entices me to get outside. I want to make one thing clear, as I’ve grown with my body, I’ve realized that finding something that I can maintain with modifications into my later years is my overall goal. So with that said, walking is my first go to “workout routine” to start the season off. Thankfully the weather isn’t as cold as winter, and has more precipitation, but there are pockets of “well it’s not as cold as” days that are worth looking forward to enjoying.
Even though I absolutely enjoy hiking, I don’t start with hikes. Remember the goal is to feel like I’ve made some type of progress right! So again. I just start with a walk and naturally over the course of a couple of times going out, I experience the natural “let’s push this a lil further”.
So while on my walks I started realizing “You know what? Walking is good for the heart, but girl, what about your mobility and muscle strength?” I’ve realized that the “tone” of my body has changed, and so has my strength, and this season I wanted to try something different, that would be a tad be more sustainable, but yield desirable results.
Side note: I wasn’t as gentle as I probably should have been in my early years, so due to injury and rushed/ignored recovery, my body has limitations in range of motion, and imbalances that need some attention via low risk my high reward challenges.
What’s this “pilates” thing people keep talking about, and why are there sooooo many of them on this one street?
